Joy and pain are like sunshine and rain

BY: BLACKCHICKWHITEACCENT (BCWA)

What can I say, dear reader? The last two weeks were pretty rough. It seems like every day; the news is filled with tragedy after tragedy. Makes me wanna holler.

Some of us may feel sad, or anxious. Those who are really sensitive may feel hopeless. And some of you may feel nothing at all, as if you've become numb to all the bs. There is no doubt that for many of us, things have been pretty overwhelming. What a crazy world we live in!

But we still have jobs to do, people to take care of, and a need to just keep going. And that's my advice to you. Keep going, no matter what. Because you have the blessing of still being here. You still have the chance to decide how you can live a more meaningful life and honor those elders who left this earth before you, and the young ones who didn't get a chance to grow up.

So get up, every day. Go to work, cook dinner for yourself or your family, and pick the tree branches out of your yard. Its beautiful out there. We're 14 days away from official summer. Time to enjoy the beauty of being lucky enough to still choose your fate.

Honor those we've lost too soon by living your best life. Buy some Bermuda shorts, or a summer dress, and walk around Monument Valley Park. They have a small, but beautiful botanical garden. Take selfies next to the beautiful flowers!

Take the family to Manitou Springs, and get some saltwater taffy. Buy a yellow rosebush, and put it in the sunniest place in your yard. Rose bushes bloom twice a year, in the spring and late summer. If you take care of it, you could have blossoms by August. Enjoy them!

Live. Thank God you are still here. You have choices. I know it can be hard sometimes, but you have to believe you'll be okay. We're all a little shaky right now. But you will be okay. We all will.

Every day you wake up is proof of a second chance. Every day you step out of bed means God is showing you His grace. You made it this far. Why spoil it?

Rely on your faith, friends and family for support. The need is mutual. You are here. People love you.

Life is full of ups and downs, but we all must roll with it. Find joy in the simple things. And remember, as bad as things may seem, it's much worse somewhere else.

Enjoy yourself. Put on some Frankie Beverly and Maze, and enjoy the immortal words of this great song:

"Joy and pain are like sunshine and rain.

Over and over you can be sure

There will be sorrow but you will endure.

Where there's a flower there's the sun and the rain.

Oh, and it's wonderful, they're both one and the same."

----

Enjoy your sweet, and precious life!
